Faith is often defined as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. The word substance is translated from the Greek "hupostasis" and means of a firm foundation. In other words, faith is more than just a leap into a dark abyss or wishful thinking. Faith is built on a solid foundation.
The young child who, at the beckoning of his father, leaps into his father's arms the first time, does so with a little trepidation; but, he has learned by experience that he can trust his father to keep him safe. The substance of what his father has taught him and shown him have provided a sure foundation for his continued faith in his father, even with something yet unseen and untried that seems scary.
So it is with us. Deep insider our hearts lie calm assurances of the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. Despite what our present reality or intellect may tell us is impossible. we must not give up hope that we can achieve our goals and dreams that are yet unseen. We must not listen to the voices of the world's "reason and intellect" that try to drown out our belief. We must trust in our abilities, our strength our courage, our faith and never give up hope.
All great discoveries, change and innovation happen because someone refuses to accept the consensus, the group think or status quo. Someone has the tenacity, the drive and the desire to push forward believing in evidence unseen, knowing that there is a better way.
So with calm assurance, based on a solid foundation of their previous experiences, they press forward with hope believing, trying and doing until that which is presently unseen becomes seen--a new discovery extending beyond their current reason and becoming the the basis of a new reality, a new reason and a new intellect. It all starts with faith, belief in self and hope~Becky Bro
